A ROCK OF A WOMAN AND ELEGANT BUSINESSWOMAN TO EMULATE

At a carelessly busy and dark filthy Catherine street, resides a mother to emulate, a brave woman to cherish, a businesswoman at heart and a unapologetic risk-taker, who despite the heavy load of sustaining her family still pose a smile to admire. 

Sidanisile Ncube is a Zimbabwean mother of four, who wakes up as early as 6am to open her small business of selling sweets, cigarettes, chips and children’s toys. She has been a vigilant vendor for over two years at this corner, customers are in love with her and the financial rewards from her business have not been disappointing.
The challenge however, is that she has to keep her eyes on both the customers and the Metropolice who from time to time violently or carefully and secretly swim their way to confisticate their goods.

“It’s a daily struggle. We just have to be careful, when we see them from afar we grab our goods and flee,” she said. 
This small container flooded with the goods for sale plays a significant role in making sure that her children don’t go to bed on an empty stomach; despite this she still appreciates her husband’s solid support throughout her business journey. 

Besides this sweetly business, Sidanisile occasionally bakes pancakes for her customers and this has also boosted her business sales and profits - even her customers admit to the succulent taste of these pancakes.

“The baking business is actually booming, customers love the pancakes and I can say that going to that free baking school was worthwhile,” she explained.

Since she considers this as a bottom start, Sidanisile has plans to go big and grow bigger: part of her dream is to expand her business into a professional supermarket at Heilbron where she is in a process of buying land. She is putting her trust in God and believes that at the fulfilment of this vision, there will be job creation and up-lifting of the local economy.

“I’m hoping for the best in the near future because nothing is impossible with God,” she shared.

Sidanisile is always on the lookout for new toys and products trending on the market, this enables her to adapt to a new market, satisfy the demand and stay on top of the business performance. This is a big deal because failure to adapt to new trends in the market, she might lose customers and weaken her business performance. 

She also confesses that creating relationships with customers channels a smooth running of the business and is also a prominent marketing tool.

She treats her business with high regard and respect because it has been her source of income since she lost her job as a child-minder. Moreover, it is this same business that sustained her entire family when her husband was not working.

 

“It was a tough moment, we had to endure, trust God for the best while depending on this business for survival,” she revealed.

While she still has family back in Zimbabwe, she is determined to sacrifice her best efforts to prepare a golden path for her children while keeping a close eye on the accomplishment of her spacious vision.
