The angel's cry for a new revolution.
The Angel’s cry for a new revolution
I thought this is what they wanted,
To spread my wings of a pure revolution,
To lit the fires of everlasting tranquil,
To wash away the bitter tales of impure governance,
Yet they have seized my wings and slaughtered my intent.
I thought this is what their souls hungered for,
Me to turn the soils of infertility to a ripe ground,
To cut the roots of unemployment trends,
To blow off the curse of sanctions against me,
Yet they have pulled triggers of death against me.
I, Zimbabwe am capable of renewing a heaven of wealth,
I am an angel - I can wipe away the woe of my economy,
I can uproot the systematic chains of demonic rule,
I can rescue my children from the prison of bloodshed,
But you have stabbed my powers with toxic swords.
You have abused my shield of glory,
And kidnapped the voice of my cry for a new revolution,
You have stolen the sun of my day,
And darkened the moon of my night.
With terror you have baptized my innocent offspring.
I can rebuild the ruins of this kingdom,
But look, you have shackled my hands with brutal wires,
I can kiss the democratic wounds goodbye,
But look, you have glued my lips with your deceit.
And with smoke, you have choked my uprising.
You butter my bread with fuel increases,
And you burn my skin with useless currency,
You deepen my hurt with a collapsing economy,
And you shower my children with boiling rain of poverty,
You, the head of this land are to blame for my fall.
